Extra Life Marathon 2020: LOTRO Class Reveal

Because the Away Shall Fade kinship on Landroval was so AWESOME in supporting the PvMP 4 Extra Life event on Labor Day weekend, I promised them I would spend the entire Extra Life marathon in LOTRO playing a new character. They've had several weeks now to submit class guesses to me for a chance to win VIP Time or an equivalent gift. Today I reveal the class!

The Instructions Were As Follows...

I sent out a reminder via kin-mail every 5-7 days, and the last couple days it was daily to make sure everyone had an opportunity! This was also posted on the ASF Facebook page and Discord.

The Response, in Numbers

  • Total # of guesses received: 22
  • Total # of classes guessed: 9 out of 10
  • The unloved class: Guardian (0 guesses!)
  • The most-loved classes: Beorning, Minstrel, Hunter (4 guesses each!)
  • The barely-loved classes: Warden, Burglar (1 guess apiece)
  • The correct guess didn't happen until the 14th guess
  • Total # of correct guesses: 2
  • Classes with 2 guesses apiece: Rune-keeper, Lore-master, Champion, Captain

What Happens Next

  • I reveal the correct class at the end of this entry.
  • The correct guessers will be entered into a drawing for VIP time.
  • The drawing will take place during the Extra Life marathon, on November 7th, around 6 pm central.
  • Everyone who submitted a guess will get some kind of reward from me: crafting materials, cosmetics, pets, Steam keys, or anything else I can manage to give away!
  • You should go hug the nearest Guardian. They need some love.

Are you ready?

The Reveal

Laehagnub & Jondallon guessed correctly! One of you will win some VIP Time or an equivalent gift during the upcoming marathon.

Be sure to look for Cyntafiel the High Elf Captain during the Extra Life marathon!
"Cyntaf" is Welsh for "first"-- which seemed appropriate for both a High Elf and a Captain.
Mr. Birle is the one who chose Captain -- I almost went with Guardian!

Thank you for all of the support this year, ASF -- the kids at Children's National appreciate every penny! I hope you'll join me in-game sometime during the marathon to cheer me on (and/or keep me awake). I'll be logging into LOTRO at 8 AM Central time on Saturday, November 7th. I haven't logged in with the character yet, so I'll have a lot of inventory to sort and the intro to get through... but I'll be looking for an officer to recruit me as soon as I get to Celondim!

Reminder: All LOTRO-playing donors are eligible to receive the SSG community rewards, plus all of the LOTRO-based incentives I am offering on my Extra Life page!
