An Easter Update

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, so what are some of your

favorite Easter Eggs from games?

Yeah, it's been a few weeks since my last blog entry. (Did you notice? I'll assume you noticed.) And that last one was just a narrative story about the LOTRO Yule Festival and a silly hobbit. So you might be asking, What gives, snarkqueen? Where's the content?

First, if you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Discord, you probably already heard me announce that I started a Patreon for Gamer Reverie. The purpose of the Patreon is to help cultivate content for the blog and also promote rewards for the fantastic people who donate to my Extra Life fundraising each year. If you enjoy my blog entries, or want to see improvements to Gamer Reverie, please consider pledging to be a $1 or $2 patron. Each tier has rewards, and all of them come with a special Role in my Discord server.

Secondly, I've been working my tail off to get a paper done for my Victorian Literature class from spring of 2006. No, that isn't a typo. This paper and one other are all that's standing between me and my Bachelor's in English. The professors were kind enough in the fall to tell me I could still complete the papers in order to finish my degree even now, over a decade later. I found out last month that one of the professors is leaving the university at the end of the spring semester, though, so I absolutely HAVE to get the paper done for her. I've made a lot of progress on it and plan to turn it in to her this coming week. (Anyone want to proofread a 12-page paper about Jane Eyre?)

So, please sit tight while I burn out my academic brain cells. I have a full line-up of blog content ready to go next month... and you can see that list if you sign up to become my patron on Patreon!

But really. Easter eggs. What have been some of your favorites?

Please share in the comments, and I hope you have a wonderful Easter holiday!

    1. That sounds a little gruesome! What was it a statue of, and what was the significance of the beating heart? (Or was there?)

  2. Weirdly, my fave easter egg is a ref to a book I've never read, but had the scene in queastion described to me before I ever found it in the game, and found it hillarious. In WoW, prior to patch 4.0.3, the salt flat race track had a spot where there were burnout marks from tires, leading to a scorch mark on the side of a mountain. In the next province, on the other side of them mountain, there's a corrisponding scorch mark, skidd marks, and a crashed out rocket car. It's in referance to a scifi book where a guy invented a teleporter, mounted it on his car, sped towards a mountain, teleported through it, only to hit a boulder on the other side. I don't know why I found it so funny when described from the book (who's title I don't remmember either) but I found it hillarious when I found it in game and realized what it was

    2. I don't know about these days, but WoW used to be FULL of really obscure Easter eggs

    3. Well-developed games usually are! I've never played WoW, but I figure something must keep people playing.
