Freebies for Followers: March 8th

As promised, I have freebies to give away to my followers!

If you'd like a free game key, leave a comment on this blog entry telling me about a game you think I should play (and perhaps blog about), and why.

You have until 11 pm central on March 9th to comment! (That's just over 25 hours.) Ready, set, GO!

  1. I stumbled into a grand strategy game called Stellaris that was just released this past year. With this one, you build your galactic empire. I've always loved these simulator-like games... simcity, civilization. The animation is surprising zooming in from over a galaxy to a little space ship. Because it's new and with Beta Testing and enhancements available, it's rapidly changing its 'feel' and it's kind of fun poking at it to see how those changes affect the game. It's a "box of chocolates"... but generally well done - Jim Shaffer

    1. I acquired Stellaris via last year's June Humble Bundle, but haven't claimed the Steam key yet. I'm not huge on space/sci-fi games with only a few exceptions. Sounds like a game I can safely recommend to others who enjoy sci-fi strategy, though!

  2. If you haven't tried Fallen London, it's become kind of an interesting one (apparently it's set in the same world as Sunless Sea, it's just more of a point and click browser game). Slow going because you only get so many actions at a time but I've been poking around it, and it seems to be a "story is what you make of it" game.

I also would mind seeing you do one of the original Fable games (I have The Lost Chapters on Steam but haven't been able to play for YEARS) but not sure if it's up your alley or not. I just rather liked the mechanic that your choices affect who your character becomes, instead of you choosing a set path. Things just sort of happen and change your character's alignment as you go.

    2. I had Sunless Sea on my wishlist for a very, very long time... but the game never went on sale. Thus, I still don't own it and I eventually just removed it from my wishlist. I've never heard of Fallen London, though. I'll have to give it a look.

I always WANTED to play the Fable games... but I never had the right system to play whenever one came out (boo to Xbox). I know the extended version of the first game is on PC now, but there've been other games that demanded to be played first. I'll see about stalking it for a good sale!
